Premises Liability

Negligent security cases arise when a property owner fails to provide reasonable security measures to protect visitors from foreseeable criminal acts. These incidents often occur at apartment complexes, hotels, parking garages, shopping centers, nightclubs, office buildings, and other properties where owners know or should know that criminal activity is likely to occur. Examples may include assaults, robberies, shootings, sexual assaults, or other violent crimes that could have been prevented with proper security. Inadequate lighting, broken gates, malfunctioning locks, lack of security personnel, and failure to monitor known dangers are common factors in negligent security claims. Property owners have a responsibility to take reasonable steps to protect guests and tenants, and when they fail to do so, they may be held accountable for the injuries and losses suffered by victims.
